Brutus was confiscated from a French circus. He had been brutally declawed and was so severely beaten when younger that his jaw was broken and never reset! This has resulted in permanent disfigurement. Brutus landed on African soil in the late hours on 18-03-2010 and was transported to the sanctuary, where the plan was to release from his traveling crate at first light on 19th. Brutus had other plans though and decided to take a 3 1/2 hour nap before emerging from his traveling crate. He then voraciously ate almost 15 kilograms of meat before settling down in the shade.
