Rupert, a 9 month old caracal, has just found sanctuary with us. Rupert's mother was shot by a farmer, leaving him orphaned. Farm workers tried to hand rear Rupert, but due to the incorrect diet, Rupert had a very bad start in life. This resulted in numerous problems including a number of serious broken bones due to the lack of calcium in his diet. Fortunately for Rupert, he ended up at Butterfly World, where he was slowly nursed back to health. Butterfly World admirably decided to seek a sanctuary environment for Rupert and we gladly accepted Rupert as a new resident at the Park. Rupert is not a suitable candidate for rehabilitation and will always walk with a pronounced limp. |
