04-02-2009 Share Fire threatens Lion Park! On Wednesday at about 3pm a brush fire broke out on a farm adjoining the Lion Park. Unfortunately the Lion Park is the only farm in the area that has firebreaks and fire fighting equipment! Lion Park staff battled for over 12 hours to prevent the fire from reaching the Park's boundary fences, at times the fire raged within 10 meters of the lion camps! Fortunately we were able to contain the blaze, but we have once again been reminded of how vulnerable the Park is and we would like to make an appeal for donations towards a second fire fighting unit. A fire fighting unit will cost in the region of R25 000. |
