Zintle became suddenly ill in the early hours this morning and despite emergency veterinary intervention, passed away a short while later. I rushed her to the vet and she was prepped for exploratory emergency surgery, but there was nothing that the veterinary team could do. CPR was attempted for more than 30 minutes to revive her. She died in my arms on the surgery table at 10am this morning.
Zintle was a sweet and affectionate little girl who will always have a very special place in our hearts. Needless to say, we are all devastated at her passing. Zintle was never a particularly strong cub, but during the five weeks she was with us we can confidently say she had a happy and content life. We are still awaiting laboratory reports to establish the cause of death and these results will be posted on this page once available. 18-12-2008 UPDATE Post Mortem and Laboratory results have determined that Zintle
suffered from an intestinal congenital defect that resulted in degenerative
liver failure. Her condition was untreatable. |
